The next tool I wanted to use was Microsoft teams from the T3PP Technologies for Resources Blogging Powerpoint. I wanted to use this tool because this is something new to me that my placement school occasionally uses. A few of the teachers are really high on it and have discussed how easy it makes their life.

Microsoft Teams is a great app for group collaboration, organization, real-time communications. This app does a great job of being very accessible to everyone involved.  Microsoft teams has options for emojis, group chats, even language options. The accessibility is very open to anyone you share with inside your team while also having a calendar option to mark important meetings or dates.

The following link is a great tutorial

Ease of Use

Microsoft teams give you a wide range of platforms on which one can access for example there are mobile options for both iPhone and Android, app options on the computer, or any desktop. In addition, Microsoft Teams also has teams and channels, conversations that can partake inside these teams and channels. Another interesting feature the tool has is document storage in share point. The most commonly used tools in it are online meetings and audio conferencing. As you can tell this tool is very similar to what we did with zoom but has a few interesting additions. I really enjoy how simple it is to navigate and set up this calendar and calling options. The app isn't overdone with confusing details as to where one needs to navigate to do certain things. The features allow you to be extremely organized in connection with your teams or channels.

Versatility

Microsoft team is a very efficient program for versatility because of the fact that it has a wide range of options and platforms you can access information from. A teacher would be able to share information via video meetings, audio meetings, onto the calendar, or even drop it in the channel. These communication options allow for quick check-ups as well as prolonged meetings. I believe this tool would be very good for both teachers and students as well as school staff meetings. The two things that I really like that stand out from zoom are the storage option and calendar. I think for a teacher this would be a very great way to present lessons or do checkups with students.

Likelihood of using it

As of right now I already have some experience using it and I could see myself occasionally working with it. But if the schools stay in person I think it would be more rarely used. On the other hand, if schools were to go back to online learning I think this is a tool I would want to use over zoom because of its additional amenities. I think this would be a resource I would like to use with my teaching team so we could mark important dates, exchange thoughts or ideas on topics, and be on the same page all the time. I think it would be a lot better o use for that than in an everyday class setting.

Course connections

I think that Microsoft teams would work very well with the 7 events of technology by presenting the context, stimulating or recalling information, and providing feedback. A teacher would be able to provide feedback directly with students through questions and answers aloud and face to face via video chat. Microsoft team would also be good for recalling information since a teacher would be able to reflect on previous lessons through meetings, check-ups, and channel posts. The final idea I enjoyed from the 7 events was providing the context since this is the most important aspect of the tool a teacher could have live videos about lessons, share lessons to the channel, post assignments to the calendar, and save important documents in Microsoft teams. As for the connection to TLC, I enjoy both planning and instructing. T3 instructing is very convenient in this app because like I previously stated there are 5 options as to how you can instruct a lesson. As for T1, a teacher is capable of planning a variety of lessons in advance and posting them for students to access at any given time. Microsoft teams make the connection from the teacher to the student an easy process.

  1. Hi Beau,
I have used Microsoft itself but I have never heard of the Microsoft team. This seems as it would be useful for students who are collaborating as well as those who need more of a bigger group. I think you did a very good job explaining the technology itself. I can see myself using this with my fellow students and maybe when in the classroom as a tool for all teachers.
